During the early months of the pandemic, I was looking for things to get students excited about science, and I came across NASA's virtual fieldtrip to Mars. I absolutely loved how the kids got to drive around the Mars Rover Curiosity, and explore the planet.
In order to help guide my students through this awesome site, I set up a google doc that walked them through it and sent them on a scavenger hunt for answers, locations, and terrain.
The virtual fieldtrip was a huge success with my sixth graders, and I ended up using it again when I was homeschooling my kiddos. I was recently looking for another virtual fieldtrip that I could set up for my kiddos, and I found that NASA also has a great site exploring Jupiter.
On this virtual fieldtrip I was able to use google docs to guide my students through an exploration and history of Jupiter.
Students are able to navigate around the planet to discover it's moons, and the path that the space probe Juno took during it's voyage.
